Dosage/Direction for Use
Exflem: Tablet: Adult: 1 effervescent tablet once a day, preferably in the evening. Or, as prescribed by a physician. Duration of treatment: Acute Disorders: 5 to 10 days. Chronic Disorders: May be continued for several months, according to the advise of a physician. Direction for use: Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass (250 mL) of water. Acetylcysteine solution should not be mixed with other drugs to avoid interaction.
Granules: Adults and Children over 14 Years Old: Orally, contents of 1 sachet once a day, or, as prescribed by a physician. Duration of treatment: Acute Disorders: 5 to 10 days. Chronic Disorders: May be continued for several months, according to the advice of a physician. Directions for use: Empty contents of one (1) sachet into a mug. Dissolve the granules in about ½ glass (100 mL) of water. Stir until the solution clears. Consume entire drink. Acetylcysteine solution should not be mixed with other medicines to avoid interaction.
Exflem 200:
If not otherwise prescribed, the following dosage is recommended for Acetylcysteine: Adults and adolescents from 14 years of age: 1 powder sachet 2-3 times daily (equivalent to 400-600 mg acetylcysteine/day).
Children and adolescents from 6-14 years of age: 1 powder sachet twice daily (equivalent to 400 mg acetylcysteine/day).
Mucoviscidosis: Children and adolescents aged over 6 years 1 powder sachet 3 times daily (equivalent to 600 mg acetylcysteine/day).
Method and total duration of administration: Acetylcysteine is taken dissolved in a glass of liquid (water, tea or juice) after meals.
The duration of use depends on the type and severity of the disease and should be decided by the attending physician.
In case of chronic bronchitis and mucoviscidosis, treatment should be continued for a longer-term period in order to achieve infection prophylaxis.
